A New Direction
It has certainly been a while since I last posted something here on my professional blog, but that is mostly because I was not producing written materials in my previous job. As a teacher in a learning center, I worked within an already-established curriculum of specifically prescribed books and worksheets. Up until this past April, though, I was still a contributing writer at Travelated; but now the website has changed hands, and they are finding their content in other ways.
However, I am no longer working in the front lines of education. Instead, I am pleased to say that I am a creative writer for the newly formed English language team at Manhattan Press Hong Kong, a textbook-publishing company. My division is part of Marshall Cavendish, which is also part of Times Publishing Group based in Singapore. I hope to be more proactive about updating my online portfolio with samples from my new position.
As a start, below are a couple of posters on display at my company's booth at the recent 2012 Hong Kong Book Fair. I am not the writer, but the organizer and editor of these comic book-style "dictionaries" that show new words in context. The first book, More Words Please: Adjectives, is scheduled to be completed and in book stores by September of this year!
