Hong Kong Book Fair 2.0
The annual Hong Kong Book Fair was held this past week, and like all local publishers, my company had a booth there. Our booth this year was much better than last year, mostly because we could display so many more of our own books, rather than those produced by affiliated offices in Singapore and the US.
In fact, the Marshall Cavendish Education booth really showcased my department, ELT, even though we have one of the smallest teams in the office! Our books completely covered one of three large tables, and they were also tucked along some side tables. The iPad station in the booth was dedicated to ELT titles as well.
The first books I worked on at Marshall Cavendish were three comic dictionaries in a series called More Words Please. Here is a display of the 'boxed' set, along with a poster showing the award given to the first book, 600+ Adjectives.
One of my more recent, and still ongoing, projects is the series Idioms in Conversation, which is part of a larger series called Fluency Tools. At the moment, only two of the books are published, but the third and final one should be finished in the next couple of months.
Not only did the iPad station feature ELT-related apps, it actually showed the projects that I worked on, too. The app versions of our books that have been developed so far are based on the More Words Please and Idioms in Conversation series! Sadly, they are only available on the Hong Kong iTunes App Store.
