Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology

One of my duties at APAO is serving as Language Editor of the society's bimonthy ophthalmology journal, the Asia-Pacific Journal of OphthalmologyPreviously, we worked with publishing teams at Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, who were in charge of typesetting and formatting articles, along with operating and maintaining the online submission system and website.

As of January 2017, however, the journal is now self-published by APAO. Web designers were hired to create a new website, but the task of laying out articles has fallen to me as well as the Editorial Assistant. Because I tend to have more spare time and also work quickly, I have formatted the majority of the articles thus far.

Although I am not as proficient in InDesign as I once was, it is fairly easy to input the text and images and lay out the articles using our templates. In fact, I quite enjoy the change of pace from editing, which can be more mentally taxing. Now that I'm also the sole copy editor, we've purchased the complete AMA Manual of Style and I have become more familiar with it.
