In February 2023, I started a new job as the English editor at City University of Hong Kong Press. Check out my photo on the website! Although I can't work from home like I did at Bupa, it's been an otherwise wonderful change of pace.

As the only native English speaker in the office, I spend most of my time copy editing manuscripts and proofreading layouts. I'm also responsible for assessing submissions and working with authors throughout the publication process. Sometimes I lend a hand to proofread other English materials, such as marketing promotions and social media posts. I also assign tasks to our English interns as needed.

This month, my first two titles were released just in time for the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair. Both were edited volumes, collections of articles or chapters by different authors, but one was about linguistics and the other was on disaster management. It's safe to say I learned a lot about these topics during the publishing process!
