International English in Everyday Conversation,
a Two-Volume Set
Our two newest ELT titles have been published, just in time for the Hong Kong Book Fair, which begins mid-next week. International English in Everyday Conversation Volumes I and II is the second part of our Fluency Tools series (the first being Idioms in Conversation).
This two-book series is part picture dictionary and part reading passage in conversation form. Each unit features either British or American English, along with the equivalent words from the non-featured dialect. It also contains foreign words used in English, common abbreviations and Internet / text language.
In the beginning, I was in charge of creating the vocabulary list for this project, which was then finalized by my coworkers. I then managed the team of freelance writers who contributed manuscripts for the books, and also prepared the completed MS to handover to the design team.
We all content and copy edited the formatted pages of the book as a team. And we always share the proofreading of blueprints from the factory, as it's really the last chance to catch any mistakes ... Hopefully we found them all!
To get a taste of what the books are like, you can download the free app for Apple or Android. It contains audio recordings of all the UK, US and foreign vocabulary, and it's even my voice for the US English words!
I wrote the app description for the app store, too!
